MONSTR Sense Technologies announces compound semiconductor wafer inspection service
MONSTR Sense® is offering 6” wafer inspection for silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN), popular semiconductors for high-power and high-frequency electronics.
ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN, UNITED STATES, September 13, 2023 – MONSTR Sense Technologies, LLC, a leader in ultrafast spectroscopy and imaging, is joining the compound semiconductor inspection industry by offering an in-house service for wafer inspection using its proprietary nonlinear imaging technology. The offering includes wafer overview scans with defect classification and sub-micron resolution scans in select areas of the wafer. The service offering is currently set up for SiC, GaN, and GaAs wafers, but the company plans to expand the material base further in the future. This service grows from MONSTR Sense’s semiconductor imaging expertise with its laser-scanning microscope NESSIE®, which is optimized for semiconductor research applications.
“The application of nonlinear imaging for full-scale wafer inspection is unprecedented and an exciting opportunity to improve the material yield,” said MONSTR Sense president and co-founder Eric Martin, Ph.D. “Many everyday technologies, such as electric vehicles, already depend on these advanced materials, and the applications are only expected to grow. Improving yield with more accurate identification of defects is one of the most important challenges for the industry and we are excited to offer our contribution to advance these materials. ”
By developing effective wafer inspection, MONSTR Sense is helping to improve the efficiency of manufacturing electric vehicles, 5G electronics, and microLEDs. Capable quality control helps ensure that devices don’t fail when you need them, and it makes the next generation of electronic devices more affordable.
